Statement from women farmers made at Nepal World Social

Forum 2024

1. The government across the globe has to put an immediate full stop to the conversion of agriculture lands for residential and industrial purpose.
2. Globalization has seen a trend of feminization of farming across the countries and so landless women involved in agriculture and allied activities have to be recognized as farmers and a decent wage has to be fixed.
3. The price of food grains have to be fixed in the global market as the prize of metal is being fixed by the London metal exchange.
4. The use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in farming has affected the health of the global community and so there is a need to shift back to traditional natural farming methods. The government should provide incentive as the shifting would give safe food to the World as well supports in combating climate Crisis.
5. Agriculture has to be declared as the primary occupation across the country in the globe.
6. The Farmers debt has to be canceled once for all.
7. The Farmers should have access and control over means of protection like land, water and seed, produce and market (fixing up rates).
8. Food production loss through natural disaster and man-made disaster should be compensated.
