Beyond Factory-Schooling: The Ecoversities Alliance. The mainstream University system and its knowledge production systems are essentially entrenched in the global economy and built on extraction, overconsumption, waste and war. It glorifies and romanticises the urban industrial lifestyle. It promotes self-hate. The way we are being trained to think about the crisis is part of the crisis. If we want to create another world, we need to reconnect to and re-generate our local knowledge systems and skills, our wisdom traditions and cultural imaginations, and our relationships of care and trust. This session will highlight the growing movement of alternative holistic universities while inviting participants into a process of dreaming and starting their own ecoversities in their communities.
