1) School bullying is quite a serious social problem, which influences pupils’ psychological health badly. The fond “Zhuravlik” was organized to struggle with it in Russia. The fond’s activity is divided into three forms: help, Education, enlightment. For several years it has got wide experience and has developed some tools: an anti-bullying programme, an educational programme for schools and a hotline.

2) In 2023, Quebec has been marked by union and social actions related to education and public services. This new chapter of struggles and demands is part of a long trajectory since the 1960s, during which the paradigm in education has changed profoundly over the decades. Is education still perceived as a common good or has it become more of a commodity, subject to individual strategies and educational markets?

The Centrale des syndicats du Québec (CSQ), along with its partners, is focusing this year on upcoming struggles regarding the social role of education and the Quebec, Canadian, and international education systems. This workshop aims to describe a shift in the situation in Quebec following the influences of economic liberalization ideologies and discourses, especially since the 1990s. We will analyze this situation in light of other international cases.
