In light of the deliberations and outcomes of the Global Talk on Hunger and Food Systems convened during the World Social Forum 2024 Nepal, we, the participants, hereby declare the following commitments and actions:

  1. Recognition of Global Hunger Crisis: Acknowledging the persistent global hunger crisis exacerbated by conflicts, climate variability, economic downturns, and inequalities within the food system.
  2. Urgent Call for Action: Urging governments, international organizations, and civil society to prioritize efforts to end hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition in all its forms by 2030, with renewed focus and targeted interventions.
  3. Inclusive Dialogue and Collaboration: Committing to fostering inclusive dialogues and collaborations among diverse stakeholders, including marginalized communities and youth, to address the root causes of hunger and promote equitable food systems.
  4. Empowerment of Marginalized Communities: Pledging to empower marginalized communities, including small-scale farmers, indigenous peoples, and women, by amplifying their voices and ensuring their meaningful participation in decision-making processes related to food systems.
  5. Advocacy for Policy Change: Advocating for policy reforms and investments that prioritize the right to adequate food, promote food sovereignty, and ensure equitable access to nutritious and culturally appropriate food for all individuals.
  6. Promotion of Sustainable Practices: Promoting sustainable agricultural practices, agroecology, and biodiversity conservation to enhance resilience, mitigate climate change impacts, and ensure the long-term sustainability of food systems.
  7. Youth Engagement and Leadership: Recognizing the pivotal role of youth as next-generation leaders in shaping the future of food systems and committing to providing them with platforms, resources, and opportunities to lead and drive transformative change.
  8. Global Collaboration for Change: Calling for enhanced global collaboration and solidarity to address the structural injustices perpetuating hunger, promote social justice, and advance the Sustainable Development Goals related to food security and nutrition.
  9. Investment in Research and Innovation: Advocating for increased investment in research, innovation, and technology transfer to develop sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices, improve food production, and enhance food distribution systems.
  10. Monitoring and Accountability: Committing to monitoring progress, tracking commitments, and holding governments and stakeholders accountable for their actions to ensure the realization of the right to adequate food and the achievement of food security and nutrition goals.

In conclusion, we reaffirm our collective commitment to building a world free from hunger, where food systems are equitable, resilient, and sustainable, and where every individual enjoys the fundamental right to access sufficient, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food.
