Misson:ATTAC (Association for the Taxation of Financial Transactions and for Citizens' Action) is a global network of activists and organizations that focus on issues related to social, economic, and environmental justice. The organization was initially founded in France in 1998 in response to the financial crises of the late 1990s. ATTAC's primary goal is to advocate for greater democratic control over financial markets and institutions. Attac is an independent association driven by its members and donors (almost 90% of our resources come from memberships and donations we receive). As a popular education movement, the association produces analyses and expertise, organizes conferences, public meetings, participates in demonstrations, and mobilizes at the local, national, and international levels. Attac takes action to promote the development of alternatives and to subject predatory banks and multinational corporations to citizen control. Engaging with Attac means joining its 10,000 members, its hundred local committees, and having the opportunity to contribute to the thousands of actions carried out each year throughout France.
